In this section, you'll find examples of what we work on in class. Salsa on 1 with Cuban style and Bachata sensual & Zouk. The videos showcase the style, technique and energy we focus on each session.
Salsa on 1, also known as LA-style salsa, is a style of salsa dancing where dancers break forward or backward on the first beat of the musical phrase (beat 1) and again on the fifth beat (beat 5). This timing pattern of 1-2-3, 5-6-7 is a core characteristic of this style.
Bachata sensual is a modern style of Bachata dance that emphasizes intimate connection and fluid body movements between partners. It evolved from modern Bachata, incorporating influences from Zouk and Hip Hop, and focusing on creating a sensual, flowing feel through body waves, isolations, and dips. It's not necessarily about romantic connection, but rather about a deeper, more intimate connection between dancers.
This fusion blends the structure and timing of Salsa on 1 - which is danced in a linear pattern - with the fluidity, circular motion and social flavor of Cuban Salsa. The result is a dynamic and versatile style that combines technique with expressive freedom.
Bachata Zouk, also known as BachaZouk, is a fusion dance style that combines elements of Bachata and Brazilian Zouk. It originated from dancers blending movements from both styles, creating a unique dance form with influences from both Bachata's romantic rhythms and Zouk's flowing, sensual movements.
